Donations & Legacies

The Reason for Donating or leaving a Legacy

The degree of success in delivering the Aims and Objectives of The Trust is dependant upon the level of support received. Our volunteer helpers along with all of the trustees give their time without payment or benefit in kind. Borough and County provide practical assistance as they are able. For working capital, we rely wholly on charitable contribution.

As well as the virtues of enjoying, understanding, valuing and caring for the  historic environment, The Trust believes that the physical, social, cultural and aesthetic advantages of garden city design have a great deal to offer urban planning and society today and increasingly in the years ahead. Your investment will be working to promote, realise and sustain these aspects of human fulfilment and environmental quality in the future. There is a great deal that we can achieve and the work will be ongoing.

If you consider The Trust’s objectives worthy and feel that you would like to make a personal Donation towards the cause or consider leaving a Legacy,  please read on.

Making a Donation

Please make your cheque payable to The Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust and send it to us at 60 Bridge Road, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire AL8 6UR, or it can be deposited at HSBC in Howardsgate.

For income tax or capital gains tax payers please download and complete the Gift Aid form at www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/appendix_b1.pdf and include this with your cheque. This will allow The Trust to claim up to an additional 28p from Inland Revenue for every £1 that you have donated.

Notes

  1. Bear in mind also that charitable donations of any amount are completely exempt from future inheritance tax liability.
  2. Charitable gifts of land, buildings, shares and securities could on occasion offer you other tax advantages in certain circumstances. Your accountant or solicitor would be able to advise in this respect.
