Following its commitment to consult on implementation of the revived Estate Management Scheme (EMS) with both the WGC Society and the Trust an initial meeting was held on 22nd October. First item on the agenda was publicising the EMS to everyone in the town, whether in the scheme or not, given that it is likely to affect all the residents in some way over time. The Council will be publishing and distributing a new booklet on the EMS that will be delivered to very house affected. WGCS and WGHT promised to promote the scheme to the best of their abilities via their members and supporters as well as using the respective websites. The other significant item on the agenda was updating records on each dwelling in the scheme via photographs. This might seem odd at first sight but without a properly documented record of what the front of the property looked like on a specific date it would be difficult to prove that any unauthorised changes took place after the new rules were publicised. The current stock of photographs badly needs updating and there are few resources available to the Planning Department at present to bring it up to date. A request for help was therefore made to seek help from both interested organisations for people who would be willing to take digital images of specific properties on behalf of the council. If you have a good digital camera that is capable of downloading images to a computer and would like to be involved in gathering the photographs we need to hear from you. In the first instance please contact us either via this website or by phoning Tony Skottowe on 01707 324828. We will then pass your details to the people in Planning who will contact you directly with detailed instructions and guidance on exactly what is needed, it may involve a short teach-in to make sure any pictures you take are not wasted.
