Wednesday 15th February 2017 saw a gathering held to celebrate 10 years of the WGC Heritage Trust. Joint founders Dennis Lewis and Tony Skottowe gave short speeches recalling the start of the organisation and it’s achievements; both looked forward to the next ten years!

As has happened with previous displays the Trust’s recent ‘Where Do You Think We Played?’ exhibition at Sainsbury’s has prompted further donations of material for the WGC Heritage Trust archive.

'A Dramatic Hollow In Sherrardspark Wood - The Dell' a history by Trustee Robert J Gill can be purchased from the Welwyn Garden City Heritage Trust.

Our thanks go to all those who came along and visited our stand in the Howard Centre on Saturday 8th October 2016.

Timeline of WGC Industries front cover

The Trust’s book 'Where Do You Think We Worked? - A Timeline of WGC Industries 1920-1960' reveals the wealth of material gathered during the ‘Where Do You Think We Worked?' project.

A couple of photos from our 'Mini-CONTACT' event held on Howardsgate within the WG Petit Tour event on 17th July 2016. We had decided, as part of our 'Where Do You Think We Played?' project, to revive a little of the spirit of the Convention of Town Activities that used to be held annually on The Campus from 1966 to the early 1980s, and provided a showcase for all the different organisations and clubs that residents could join.

The Trust supported a recent heritage project concerning the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, which has been part of Welwyn Hatfield for over 50 years.

Q&A session after the lecture

The Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust produced a DVD of both Patrick Clarke and Kate Henderson's presentations at the first Garden City Lecture in 2012, with highlights of the Q&A session at the end, which is still available to purchase.
