Polypenco Limited was established in 1957, and engaged in industrial plastic extrusions and machined components and polytetrafluoroethylene. It manufactured massive nylon castings, etc. for the home and export market with associated companies in various parts of the world.
Polypenco evening in the Cherry Tree Ballroom - started off with business matters and finished with a knock-out 'Boat-race' competition with teams of eight in a row having - in turn - to down a half pint of beer each in the fastest time. Six teams took part and the bar was drunk dry. The final being curtailed the ladies team was declared the winner!
